American Science and Technology Corporation (AST) is a Chicago-based full service engineering company focused on converting lignocellulosic biomass into high-value chemicals and products.

For the past eight years, AST has been utilizing its complete and integrated biorefinery facilities (located in Wausau, WI) to maximize the exploitation of chemical energy from natural, renewable, and non-food resources. AST has developed a highly sustainable and economically competitive organosolv process to convert lignocellulosic biomass into highly refined fermentable sugars, pure lignin, high quality pulp, and organic solvents.

AST's cellulosic sugars and lignin are key intermediate products in supply chains for producing bio-chemicals, plastics, bio-fuels, and nutritional supplements for food. The aim of AST is to produce high quality sugars and lignin at competitive prices to not only displace petroleum-derived products, but also help to reduce carbon emissions.
